Mt. Hood

We've been getting out and hiking a lot more since we've gotten Sadie. She's got a pretty healthy amount of energy. We went up to Mount Tabor a week or so ago and discovered that when it's clear, there's a pretty good view of Mt. Hood.

Puppy Exhaustion

Tom is traveling for work, and I've got full time puppy duty, and I've decided I don't like it much. I got up at 6:30 took the puppy out, and continued to take her every 4 hours. In between I tried to avoid her chewing on my feet, my pants, or trying to sit on my lap while I worked.

I took her to the park hoping to burn off some energy before the dog training class. She was wound up, and got to run off leash with some other dogs for a few minutes, but she was still full speed at the dog class. She didn't listen at all, and I now have rope burn from the leash on my hand.

Fun stuff. It makes me very glad to not be in this alone.

Tomorrow I need to go into the office, but we don't have someone lined up to take her out mid-day, so I'll be running home to let her out over lunch. Lucky puppy!

Update: As I typed this, she promptly piddled on the floor.

Some new pictures of Sadie

She's getting bigger and less timid. Still as cute as can be! We're almost through the puppy kindergarten class and she's learned some basics but has a very short attention span. We've got to watch her like a hawk.

Minnesota trip

Tom and I got back last week from a few days in Minnesota. It was a annual reunion of sorts with his brother back from Africa, and his sister and brother-in-law and their kids visiting from Montana. Friends of Al and Dianne's were very generous to take us out on their pontoon boat. It was very hot, but everyone enjoyed.

Here are some pictures:

Beach with Sadie and Friends

Tom and I had rented a house at the beach for my birthday. We were lucky to have some friends and family join us. Sadie got introduced to the beach and we sent off Satchel's remains. Here are some of my favorite pictures!

Sleeping Beauties

ps
I've been taking Sadie out in the morning and then bringing her upstairs while I get ready for work. Tom has taken to snuggling with Sadie, and it looks like she's growing pretty fond of this as well.

We went to our first dog obedience class tonight called Puppy Kindergarten. It's a lot about basic puppy behavior and even more about training the owners. :)

Mom K. is heading out here tomorrow for a visit and to meet her new granddoggy!

Settling In

Sadie is starting to settle in at the derailment of Tom's work productivity. I'm going to chose to believe he did not spend all of the afternoon as shown. This was however, how I found them when I came home from work.

Sadie is seeming less timid day by day and more engaged. She's acting less timid and more interested in exploring. She's figured how to climb up on and promptly fall of the lawn furniture. The weather has been lovely here, high 70s, so I think Tom and Sadie will have many of these days.
